Shira Miller Nominated for National Women Business Owner of the Year: Atlanta PR agency owner nominated by fellow female business owners

March 2008, Atlanta, GA - The National Association of Women Business Owners, Atlanta chapter, has honored Shira Miller with a nomination for Women Business Owner of the Year. Miller, CEO and founder of Atlanta-based Shira Miller Communications, joined three other nominees for the top award.

“NAWBO is an amazing organization of women entrepreneurs,” Miller said. “This outstanding group facilitates support, knowledge and continuous learning. Being recognized by a group of peers and women business leaders outside of my industry is a dream come true.”

NAWBO, which has 9,000 members and 80 chapters worldwide, helps women evolve their businesses by sharing resources and providing a single voice to shape economic and public policy. Its Atlanta chapter represents 240,000 women business owners in Georgia, who have employed over 1 million people and generated more than $180 billion in revenue in 2001. Georgia leads the nation in the growth of women-owned businesses.

Each year, NAWBO’s Atlanta chapter hosts the WE Awards to recognize women entrepreneurs and their achievements. Awards range from Corporate Partner of the Year to the Trailblazer Award. Although Miller did not take home the top prize, she was still thrilled to be part of the event.

“We were nominated by multiple sources for this honor,” she said. “I’m just tickled to be named a finalist. It exceeded all of my expectations.”
