The Nintendo Epidemic There's a horrible ailment that has begun to affect people throughout the world. "Wii- itis" is caused by playing Nintendo Wii for extended periods of time causing sore muscles. As an avid lover of Wii (yes the girl who use to think all video games were boring) I recently experienced the pain, typically found in one's shoulders. Now to me it was obvious I was going to have a bit of discomfort, so when I heard that doctors in England were diagnosing people with "Wii- itis" I had to laugh. They claim that players of Wii become so engrossed while playing it, that they forget their true physical strength and endurance. We all know when we've played too much and the system does remind players to frequently break, so people should have had an idea that a little pain is in their future. Admittedly it hurts, but once you play you will realize it is worth it. I believe Nintendo did parents everywhere a favor because finally kids are getting exercise instead of being lethargic lumps adhered to their parent's sofas. Thanks Nintendo. - Courtesy of Mallory |
